Nathan Vis devotes his time to business, real estate, home and condominium owner associations, personal injury/civil litigation/insurance issues, and criminal matters.
In his Real Estate practice, Mr. Vis focuses upon residential and commercial transactions, land contracts, and title and deed work. His client base includes a title company and a real estate company, as well as resident/non-resident homeowners and commercial owners.
In his Business practice, Mr. Vis assists in representing businesses and individuals in commercial litigation involving contracts and construction disputes. He also works with entrepreneurs to incorporate or establish new businesses, draft service contracts, and develop employee manuals. His client base includes construction companies, not-for-profit entities, tech startups, equipment rental companies, service companies, and ice cream companies.
In his Personal Injury/Civil Litigation practice, Mr. Vis assists individuals involved in vehicle accidents, train accidents, bad faith insurance denial claims, and construction defect and collection cases. He has conducted and participated in multiple bench and jury trials and extensive mediations and depositions, representing clients in both local state courts and at the federal level.
In his Home and Condominium Owner Association practice, Mr. Vis represents multiple associations in Lake, Porter and LaPorte County, assisting them with enforcement of their covenants and collection of their fees.
In his Municipal practice, Mr. Vis represents volunteer fire departments and conservancy districts, as well as providing services as a board of zoning and appeals and advisory plan commission attorney.
In his Criminal practice, Mr. Vis represents and assists individuals requiring assistance following traffic or other criminal infractions or misdemeanors.
Mr. Vis is actively involved in his church, Cornerstone Protestant Reformed Church, in Dyer, Indiana. He is also serving on the School Board of the Protestant Reformed Christian School/Heritage Christian High School. In addition, he serves as President of the Cedar Lake Redevelopment Commission. He is also a director on the Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Vis graduated from Trinity Christian College (Palos Heights, IL) with highest honors in 2007. He attended the Valparaiso School of Law and graduated magna cum laude in 2010. During law school, Nathan clerked for Federal Magistrate Judge Paul Cherry and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Hammond, Indiana, for the Federal Highway Administration, for the Illinois Road and Transportation Builder’s Association and for the American Medical Association. He also served on the Valparaiso Mock Trial Board and Team, competing in several Midwest competitions and coaching the 2010 Labor Law team.
Mr. Vis is a member of the Porter County and Lake County Bar Association and is admitted to practice in both Indiana State Court and Federal Courts (Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana) and the Seventh Circuit. He has also served as an adjunct professor for Trinity Christian College, in the Political Science Department.
