Can you fire someone on workers comp?

Can you fire someone on workers comp?

You can fire somebody who is on a workers’ comp. Employment laws and wrongful termination in Indiana do not protect an employee who has exercised or made a claim under workers’ comp. You can be fired for any reason or no reason at all. Workers’ compensation is not a guarantee of any type of work or employment protection. What it is a guarantee of is compensation if you are injured at work.

If you are fired and the sole reason is because you made that workers’ compensation claim, that is illegal and that is something that you should consult an attorney for. If you have any questions at all with regard to employment law, the experienced lawyers at Blachly, Tabor, Bozik & Hartman will be able to help you.
